Columbo, the fictitious police lieutenant played by Peter Falk in the rotating Sunday night franchise NBC Mystery Movie, made his debut in 1967 and, since then, has long been one of Universal Television’s highly acclaimed programs ever broadcast on free-to-air network television for over four decades.
In the more than 45-+ year since it premiered in prime time over the NBC Television Network, Columbo joined The Snoop Sisters, McCloud, MacMillan & Wife, Hec Ramsey, Quincy, M.E., McCoy, Amy Prentiss, Gideon Oliver and B.L. Stryker as part of the Mystery Movie brand on two different networks – NBC and ABC – during the 1970s through the 1990s. Since then, a number of Columbo telefilms were produced by Universal Television, the TV content production arm of Comcast’s flagship television network, NBC, including Make Me a Perfect Murder in which Falk interrogates one of his most dangling murder cases ever.
